NEX-7 juga memperluas beberapa user interface untuk memudahkan pengguna, penambahan itu meliputi dua dial pada plat bagian atas yang dapat digunakan untuk mengontrol berbagai fungsi, ditambah lagi dengan tombol yang sangat nyaman yang terletak di sebelah shutter release yang bisa diputar untuk menjelajahi masing-masing fungsi.

Di bagian belakang terdapat tiga tombol yang sudah familiar untuk kamera NEX masih tetap dipertahankan. Hasilnya adalah Triple-dial-control interface membuat kamera NEX-7 merupakan kamera interchangeable-lens digital pertama yang pada penggunaan normal mendapatkan satu dial yang didedikasikan untuk mengontrol masing-masing parameter exposure utama (seperti shutter speed, aperture dan ISO di manual mode).
